Global news, film, and music; Brave new world. Global news, film, and music is a project-based course that emphasizes independent learning, the mastery of multimedia skills, and the acquisition of knowledge in the global context. Beginning courses have approximately 40 students. The general education sequence with nearly 600 students has 24 ARTS 310 students, two ARTS 631 students, and two ARTS 630 students.
This course is a freshman course in which students have the opportunity to explore many important historical issues in depth. It is a small course: only 30% of students graduate. Students meet once a week for 1.5 hours and have a lab each week where they engage in reading about at least three important non-fiction books in the second semester and the field, speak with a visiting speaker, and write a 300-400 word response to the content of each of the three books.
Produced from the local, national and international points of view, the target language is presented as a performance genre. Students read a text and have approximately three minutes to retell the story. At the end of the exercise, a student-faculty discussion follows and a rich discussion topic is provided.
Students individually learn the language of others and apply the acquired knowledge in their language ability. They should also be able to handle difficult situations by themselves and with others.
Individual reading classes for Academy and Secondary Schools: Grade 9, 10, 11, 12 and Post-Secondary Students in a variety of subjects. Focus is on teaching a critical and analytically based reading approach. Students read and annotate several books of their choice. They receive daily and weekly feedback from individual tutors regarding their reading and attempt to accomplish reading objectives.
This course is intended to meet the needs of shooters in the film and video industry. Students will learn the basics of shooting and editing digital video. Students will work with HD cameras on weekends and in the students' own time. d2c66b5586
