You can play them any time you want over the internet. You can download them to your cell phone for a few measly dollars. Heck, sometimes they even come pre-installed on your computer... for free. So what could possibly compel someone to pay full price for a portable 2D puzzle game that looks suspiciously similar to Bejeweled?

I'll admit, there are more positives. The setting is just a bit less generic than Nuclear Throne or Blacklight. It's a bit more "me" and familiar than Bay12's voyages. But then all those things hold the same issue.

It's just a little 2D puzzle/sliding puzzle. Stuff happens, you "go through", and things get solved. Nothing special. If just a little more polish and compensation for the mode were added, it would be great. The novelty might wear off. And while there's nothing wrong with a little more polish (already has a high rating in Steam), there are a few issues with the game.

First off is the uninspired title. It tries to be Warlords Battlecry meets... Demon's Souls? Which is doubly unfortunate because this is a far superior game to Demon's Souls. I dunno maybe I just fell into a Demon's souls-style trap and got an inferior Demon's Souls. Maybe it's the j-turns which made me think of Demon's Souls.

Another problem with the game is the difficulty. I've played as low as Level 1 with the hardest difficulty, and I can say, there's no getting into the moment. After 20 minutes I get sidetracked, and find myself filling the time with the puzzle, not accomplishing anything meaningful. This actually got me thumbs down. I'm not sure if the jokes are funny or not, but with the difficulty settings, I can always get into the game and do a bit of mischievous fun... it's like that. In the end I found I was mildly entertained with the game, but I always found my mind wandering off doing nothing. d2c66b5586
