The Guitar Rig environment is a modular system, providing capabilities for multiple amplifiers, effects pedals and rack mounted hardware. Primarily designed for electric guitar and bass, the software uses amplifier modeling to allow real-time digital signal processing in both standalone and DAW environments via plug-in (VST/DXi/RTAS/AU). The software simulates a number of devices such as preamplifiers, cabinets and microphones under pseudonyms (such as renaming the Shure SM57 as the "Dynamic 57").
Inspired by legendary guitar amplifiers from the real world, the included "classic clean", "classic drive" and "modern drive" amp models cover a wide range of guitar amp tones, from clean vintage sounds from the early days of electric guitar to modern high gain metal tones.
Operating the plug-in is extremely simple: load it in your favorite host application, choose a preset or an amp model, and play! Like with a real guitar amp, you can tweak the frequency response with the included EQ and adjust the amount of drive - but watch out, it goes to 11!

Guitar Kit on the other hand using physical models can build many type of sounds letting you choose the tubes for each section of the amplifier, the cabinet speaker, cabinet type, microphone type and placementEach of the thee modules of Guitar Kit can be turned on and off separately so you can create different sounds from the typical guitar sound and also use the cabinet or microphone emulation on different sources.
Guitar Kit comes with twelve presets made to show how the plugin flexibility can achieve some of the most popular distinctive amp sounds, the presets can be used from your host preset browser (for VST and AU hosts only)
The demo is fully functional except for the fact that every now and then it will silence out, you cannot save parameter values with your session and the plugin will not respond to automation coming from the host.
If this plugin had as much options and models as the likes of Guitar Rig and Amplitube then it would be king. That said, for a little plugin you cant do allot of tweaking and get some really warm sounding tones. In fact, I am impressed with Hornet in general. Fantastic prices for plugins that are certainly not lacking in quality when compared to the other big names out there..
If you only want to run one plugin, you may prefer SAVIHost (covered later). If you might want to run multiple plugins at once or you want to jump between different plugins, then VSTHost is definitely the best choice.
There are two ways you can run a VST plugin. The first way you can run a VST plugin is by adding it to any DAW or VST-compatible recording program. The second way is to use a VST Host to run the plugin as a standalone application. 2b1af7f3a8
