The modern world has moved on from the world dominated by a Balance of Power. And, despite the absence of a balance of power, nations still strive to achieve the balance of power. However, it is not merely the mere absence of a balance of power that has led nations to adopt other methods to achieve peace and stability. The presence of supra–national international and regional institutions has provided a motive force for nations.
The primary source of contention in international relations is an arms race. A balance of power in international politics, in peace or in war, has been replaced by the balance as a mere object of policy. With growing development, globalization and universalization of people's rights, the will of nations has become more dynamic and growth oriented. The relative balance of power as such has lost its relevance and now, growing development, the cooperative actions and joint ventures among nations has come to be the principal source of power and influence in international relations.
G-0 is affiliated with the three pillars of globalization. It has a global perspective. It sees the world as a single ball of issues. While looking at the international relations through a balance of power lens, global political order simply looks at the region where the government is. The global political order identifies itself with the path of globalization. It has no concern with a Balance of Power. The international political order is an attempt made by the world governments to address and solve global issues.
On the other hand, the MIR has been operating on a domestic platform. When it comes to globalization the MIR is focussed on the national level. The focus is the domestic issue of a nation. Globalization has made a big change and perspective in the working of the global political order. The world now sees each other as different nationalities. Balance of power is no longer seen as a relevant tool in international relations.
