Investment in freigth transportation has implication at many levels and is closely related to the overall socio-economic system. In order to assess the relations between socio-economic variables and transportation networks and consequentely to determine the amount and direction of investment, therefore, we develop a specific computational tool. Such a tool should relate data on regional production and demand to the transportation costs and trade flow patterns.
