I read an article that talked about how, in the DJ world, the most sought-after records are exclusive releases by rare or forgotten artists, usually on vinyl. In this case, I’m not sure that’s true — vinyl records cost money, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea — but it’s certainly true for many. This Spotify playlist is an attempt to capture as many of those rare records from the decades that such fragments existed (late ’60s through a little bit into the ’90s) as possible. Even though the masters have gone and not all of them have been remastered or remastered for streaming, I’m still optimistic that I can at least unearth a few treasures for some of you, as well as for me.
There are so many records buried in the vaults of Napster-era vintage record downloading and of YouTube’s private collection that it would be impossible to document. There are certainly dozens of tracks out there that the likes of the DJ set could be built around. This playlist is treading the line between containing some of those tracks that are obtainable for download, and building a solid collection around them will require some work. d2c66b5586
